RESUME

J.-B. Charlier is a researcher in hydrogeology, specialized in karstic and volcanic aquifers. His research work focuses on a better understanding of the functioning of hydrosystems and contaminant transfers in heterogeneous environments. It is also devoted to the evaluation of global changes (anthropic and climatic impacts) on groundwater resources. He has a strong background in hydrodynamics and modeling, surface water-groundwater interactions, and water quality in agricultural watersheds. For more than 16 years, he has been involved in the development of methodologies and tools specifically dedicated to the study, management and protection of these specific aquifers, through several research projects, in France (notably in the Mediterranean and the Jura), in the French overseas territories (Antilles and Reunion) and abroad (India).
