Lors du Vendredi Découverte du vendredi 3 avril 2026, Sarah Tweed nous a présenté "The groundwater perspective of drought in Morocco"
Résumé : Since 2019, severe drought in Morocco’s Haouz Plain has intensified pressures on groundwater, revealing a trade-off between water quality and quantity under contrasting irrigation practices. Traditional surface-water irrigation promotes active recharge but increases vulnerability to wastewater contamination. In contrast, the aquifer depletion associated with modern irrigation has shifted groundwater sources toward older, mountain-derived waters, thus undermining renewability.
